This year, April 5 – 18, have been designated as Global Days of Action on Military Spending (GDAMS), days to campaign against military spending and to promote spending on to life-affirming, sustainable social programs. The International Peace Bureau is coordinating plans at the international level. United for Peace and Justice is part of the U.S, planning group.
People across the globe are organizing local actions to decry current priorities that spend $1.75 trillion/year on arms when our planet is in crisis. On April 5, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute will release its annual report on world military expenditures. April 15 is U.S.Tax Day.

United for Peace and Justice has endorsed Democracy Spring and your organization should too!
From April 11th-16th there will be one of the largest civil disobedience actions in a generation. Over 2,000 people have already pledged to risk arrest to reclaim the US Capitol in a powerful and massive sit-in that no one can ignore. Together we can open the door to reforms previously considered impossible and reclaim our democracy. Join us!
The campaign begins on April 2nd with a march from the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, then moves by the dozens across 140 miles on foot, and will arrive in DC for massive civil disobedience to end the corruption of big money in politics and ensure an equal voice for all in our elections.

Join Democracy Awakening April 16-18 as we mobilize to protect voting rights, get big money out of politics and demand fair consideration of the Supreme Court nominee.
Democracy Awakening is a broad coalition of organizations representing the labor, peace, environmental, student, racial justice, civil rights and money in politics reform movements. We share a firm belief that we will not win on the full range of policy issues we all care about until we combat attacks on voting rights and the integrity of the vote by big money.
