UFPJ has been out in force, marching in the streets of New York and endorsing actions across the country!
Earlier this year, UFPJ was extremely pleased to receive a grant from the Craigslist Charitable Fund, which allowed us to hire a part-time staff person based in New York, Matt De Vlieger. Matt, a former member of UFPJ’s National Steering Committee, has overseen a major overhaul of our communications platform, assisted with organizing Peace and Planet, and is regularly updating UFPJ’s social media. Next we would like to upgrade the UFPJ website so we can feature more events and activities of the organizations that are part of the UFPJ network and make more resources available for your activism. We are also eager to begin production and distribution of a new newsletter, which would highlight the work of local groups and share it with others worldwide. UFPJ was founded in 2003, but the conflicts raging around the world today tell us that the need to work for peace is more important than ever. That is why UFPJ has reorganized as a network and has added new members to our Coordinating Committee. Please read our most recent statement of principles and concerns, “We, the People, Silent No More.” It is time to stop repeating the mistakes of the past. War affects us all, but the profits are reaped by a powerful few. What we need is a new definition of “national security” that puts justice, human needs, and environmental sustainability at the center. With your support, UFPJ will continue this vital work.
