More than 300 activists and students took part in an Iraq War teach-in on March 24, 2005, in Washington, D.C. The event coincided with the 40th anniversary of the first Vietnam War teach-in. Participants included:
Naomi Klein, Award-winning journalist, author No Logo.
Phyllis Bennis, Fellow, Institute for Policy Studies.
Anas “Andy” Shallal, Founder, Iraqi Americans for Peaceful Alternatives.
Patrick Resta, Member, Iraq Veterans Against the War.
Celeste Zappala, Co-founder, Gold Star Families for Peace.
Member, Military Families Speak Out.
Rev. Osagyefo Uhuru Sekou, Coordinator, United for Peace and Justice's Clergy and Laity Concerned about Iraq.
The panel’s galvanizing dialogue and interaction with the activist audience makes this 92-minute program ideal for screening at local teach-ins.
In this DVD, Naomi Klein shares her personal observations of Iraq reconstruction, Celeste Zappala describes the pain of losing her son in the war, Patrick Resta recalls his Iraq deployment, Anas Shallal recounts his nephew’s kidnapping, Rev. Osagyefo Uhuru Sekou points to the impact of the war back home and Phyllis Bennis makes a compelling case for an immediate exit strategy.
