RSVP  • Reconciliation Campaign
Friday, July 3rd 2009
The Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR) invites you to join us in a two-part campaign this coming month focused on a tangible act of building peace and solidarity between the people of Iran and the United States. This effort is organized in memory of 290 people who lost their lives on July 3, 1988, when the USS Vincennes, a U.S. navy vessel, shot down an Iranian airliner in the Persian Gulf. (For more information please check our website our blog at)

First, we ask that you participate with us in a national candlelight vigil on July 3, 2009. Through this vigil, we will join Iranians in commemorating this tragic date in history, and call on the U.S. government to offer a formal apology for that action.

Also, under a very short timeline, FOR has just been invited to arrange a special civilian diplomacy delegation to Iran to bring U.S. citizens there for this commemoration. On the 3rd of July, our delegation will take a trip to the Persian Gulf and pay respects to those who lost their lives in the attack.
We have received permission from the Iranian authorities to have several dozen Americans on this special trip. We invite you to send one or more members of your organization or coalition as part of this unique act of Civilian Diplomacy. The delegation is tentatively scheduled to leave New York City on Tuesday, June 30, arriving in Tehran on Thursday, July 2; and to depart Tehran on July 14, returning to the U.S. the same day.

The cost of this trip is $4,000, which will cover round-trip air ticket between NYC and Tehran, food, accommodation and domestic transportation in Iran. (Travel within the U.S. to New York City is not included.) The delegation will visit Bandar Abbas, Isfahan, Shiraz, and Tehran. In Bandar Abbas, the American Delegates will join Iranian families of those who died in the 1988 incident and a group of Iranian artists on a boat cruise tour in the Persian Gulf. Together, U.S. and Iranian citizens will join in a ceremony of memory of those who lost their lives on July 3, 1988.

Please join us and spread the word. The deadline for applications is Monday, June 8. We regret the short notice.

If you are interested to this trip please send a short bio as well as an image of the first page of your passport to iran@forusa.org

Peace,
Leila

Eufaula, Alabama

Middle East Peace Rally
10:00a.m., CST
Monthly Event
The event will move from city to city, on a monthly cycle. Once some resolution has been reached in Palestine, we will focus on Darfur, and so on and on.
The event is in protest of the systemic
agenda of genocide, perpetrated by the IDF against the hapless Palestinian people in Gaza and THe Transjordan. For more than sixty years, the great powers of the world have acquiesced to the money of the Zionists, and it is now time to repudiate that policy. The peace of the world is at stake, and we must not miss this opportunity to allow another holocaust, primarily a nuclear holocaust, which will destroy all of us.

www.reallyreallyfree.org

As the economy is crashing and capitalism is crumbling under its own contradictions, we are starting to create a more just and sustainable economy from the roots up, The Really Really Free Market is an attempt to gather and share resources, skills, food, entertainment all for free. We are creating an alternative that reveals the myth of scarcity, helps redistribute resources to those that need them, and empowers everyone to participate in its creation. We are living lighter on the Earth by recycling resources through the community and not shipping them around the world...and not exploiting workers in poor countries for cheap goods. The RRFM movement is taking off with markets popping up around the Bay Area, around the country, and even in other countries. So come, bring any skill, bring food, a poem, a song, books, clothes - anything you think others might want and please help clean up. Be a part of a movement to create the world you always hoped was possible. It's tons of fun. No $, no barter, no advertising, just free.

The once proud indigenous people of the desert known as the Bedouins are now the poorest of Israeli citizens and struggle for survival. The State of Israel has seized their land for industry, electrical plants, prisons, military testing and Jewish-only communities. Tens of thousands live in unrecognized villages that don’t appear on the map and don’t receive any governmental services.

Come see Bette’s photos, hear about her experiences, and find out how you can add your voice to those speaking up for justice and peace in the region.

Judy Gorman creates passionate bluesy vocals and energizing songs with the vision that another world is possible.
Judy Gorman's songs get their wings from her imagination and their roots from the folk, blues, jazz and gospel music she's been surrounded by all her life. Her earliest memories are of hearing the music of Billie Holiday, Woody Guthrie, Paul Robeson and Leadbelly.
Mahina Movement folk, hip-hop fusion consists of a Musician from Hollis, Queens; a Dancer from Texas and a Painter from Utah. Together, they have carved and crafted a world of musical and artistic possibilities, running outside of boxes and crossing borders and limits. They have combined their skills, cultures, ancestors, stories and languages to reach the masses and ignite inspiration in the face of resignation and cynicism.
The Ray Korona Band brings songs from folk ballads to satirical send-ups. His songs are satirical, biting, often humorous and always offer an insightful message.
